WAVERLY, OH – Altoona’s Austin McCarl took on the famed Atomic Speedway on Saturday night for the “Rumble in the Hills,” battling a full field of 410 FAST Sprint Cars and walking away with a runner-up finish.

McCarl was not in his usual ride, the “Tarlton 21” 360 sprint car, because that division was not racing. The overall win went to Cole Duncan, a regular at the Buckeye State speed plant. Third place went to Washington State’s Gary Taylor.

Full results were not available as of this writing. McCarl started the second of three heats on the outside pole after qualifying fourth fastest overall, third fastest in his qualifying group. He clocked a fast lap of 11.704 seconds around the 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval.
