COLUMBUS JUNCTION – Friday, April 30, brought much needed Spring like weather and the racing crowd and competitors responded in large numbers for night number three of the CJ Speedway 2021 season.
The Mincer Ford IMCA Stock Cars were the final feature of the night to run. The CJ Speedway competition in the Stock Car division continues to be the very best in the area and the drivers certainly entertained the large crowd with another outstanding feature race. Jason See scored his second feature win of the season coming from the 11th starting position. See overtook race leader John Hemsted as the race passed the midway point. David Brandies advanced from tenth to give See a late race challenge but See held on to score the win. Hemsted took third ahead of 2019 CJ Speedway Stock Car track champion Johnny Spaw.
The Stewart & Sons Fuel IMCA Modified feature belonged to Kurt Kile on Friday night. Kile took advantage of a front row start and led the main event flag to flag. Jarrett Brown advanced from the fifth row and battled Kile late in the race but settled for second at the checkers. Derrick Stewart advanced from the 10th starting position to take third ahead of Kyle Madden.
The Huston Brothers IMCA Sportmods saw 19 drivers take the green flag for their main event. Shane Paris raced to the front from a sixth row start and took the lead from Todd Hansen who just recently got behind the wheel after a several year hiatus from racing. Hansen showed no signs of being rusty as he raced to a solid second place finish. Logan Anderson took third ahead of Levi Laymon.
The Midwest Towing IMCA Sport Compacts main event saw Jake Benischek complete a two division sweep as he advanced from 9th to score the Compact win over Christian Grady and Cody VanDusen. The Compact race was red flagged for a serious fire involving the 23h of Alex Hayes, fortunately Hayes escaped uninjured.
Benischek also topped the strong field of drivers in the CJ Auto Parts/NAPA Store Hobby Stocks on Friday night. Benischek raced to the checkers just ahead of Rick VanDusseldorp and Aaron Martin.
