WEST BURLINGTON – Brian Shirley was the racer to beat Friday night in the Prelude to the Slocum 50 at 34 Raceway.

The Illinois racer put his super late model on the pole for the 40-lap feature alongside the previous night’s Lucas Oil MLRA winner, Billy Moyer Sr., grabbed the lead from the drop of the green, and never looked back. Bobby Pierce, who made contact with Marshalltown’s Ryan Gustin, causing the 19 car to roll over onto its top in Turn 4, finished in a very unpopular second.

Moyer finished third, followed by Tony Jackson Jr. and Frank Heckenast Jr. to round out the top five. Decorah’s Tyler Bruening finished eighth and Mount Vernon’s Chad Simpson came in 16th. Following his late-race rollover, Gustin was scored in 19th.

The super late models were joined by the 305 winged sprints and the mini-hauler division. Feature winners were Dan Keltner of Grandview and Tim Wagner of Wapello, respectively. Click HERE for full results from MyRacePass.com.
